Amagansett Residence
About the Project
Set in the coastal landscape of Amagansett on Long Island’s East End, this
custom project balances architectural precision with natural warmth. Designed
by Adam Jordan Architecture and Interiors and built by John Hummel &
Associates, the home reflects a vision of clean lines, elevated craftsmanship, and
materials chosen to harmonize with the coastal surroundings.
Adam Jordan Architecture and Interiors’ work “embraces an edited design
language that places an emphasis on simplicity, warmth and materiality. An
unwavering attention to detail, impeccable craftsmanship and raw, natural
materials lead to an understated elegance embodied throughout each project.”
The firm calls this residence a ‘beach compound,’ capturing its serene escape
from city bustle and an effortless embrace of oceanfront living.

Creativity
At the heart of the design, West | Wood’s custom white oak surfaces bring depth
and character to every plane of this beach residence. Each white oak finish was
developed in a fully custom color palette, created exclusively for this project.
The interplay of livesawn, riftsawn, and quartersawn cuts ensures a layered
architectural language—each surface telling its own story while contributing to a
cohesive whole. The result is a home where material integrity and design intent
merge, creating spaces that feel both timeless and distinctly modern.
The floors are engineered white oak livesawn planks in 8” and 10” widths,
creating a flowing, organic backdrop with subtle variation.
Riftsawn white oak boards in 3”, 4”, and 6” widths are detailed with a nickel gap
for refined texture on the walls.
Ceilings were finished with quartersawn white oak in 8” and 10” widths, offering
linear elegance overhead.
At WEST | WOOD, we design many architectural surfaces, including hardwood surfaces such as walls, ceilings, stair treads, doors, cabinets and furniture.
